Inspired by the privately minted gold coins struck in Salt Lake City, this replica reflects a unique chapter in American monetary history, when the Latter-day Saints used California Gold Rush gold to create local currency in the Utah Territory between the 1840s and 1860s.
The front features a Phrygian cap (symbolizing liberty) positioned above the "All-Seeing Eye of Jehovah," encircled by the inscription "HOLINESS TO THE LORD".
The back features a pair of clasped hands, symbolizing fellowship and unity, surrounded by the initials "G.S.L.C.P.G." (Great Salt Lake City Pure Gold), the date "1849", and the denomination "TWENTY DOLLARS".
